I have learned how to catch a few in deep water in lake conway, but haven't a clue on what types of shoreline or areas might hold shallow water crappie. any advice. not looking for your honey hole, just some general advice.
went yesterday and fished in the log jams and shore line area around adams lake, as well as in the Cyprus areas out from the banks. used minnows and got no bites in 6 hours.
the only excitement was when I almost ran up on a 12' or so alligator sunning on top of the logs in the jam on the south side of adams. I had never seen a gator on the lake before and it was scary. I was about 20 yards from him before I accidently saw him. whew!!!
It was shocking how much noise he made when I guess I scared him trying to take a picture and he decided to hit the water. It sounded like a gun exploded.
Don't know if this will show up cause I was too far away when I decided to take a picture, but here is what I have. He was facing the shoreline so I just got his (or her) tail.
I wonder if there are any other gators this far north? I was surprised last year when I heard that lake Conway had one. I wonder where it came from and how it got there. I bet a few days last month he was wishing he lived a bit farther south. We see them from time to time on Lake Erling in SW AR.

Not true. We are not sure how they got in the lake, but they are there. They are native to this type of area, so we are going to let them do there thing. If the population gets too big and we start to have problems, we may need to revaluate this stance.

I am glad to know that the AGFC is NOT putting gators in Arkansas lakes. Whew! Do y'all have a clue bout how many are in LC?
