    Default HELP!!! Little Red River

Going up this weekend to a buddy's fishing house on the Little Red. We have absolutely no idea how to trout fish. We also will be fishing from the bank as we do not have a boat. Any tips or information you could share with me is greatly appreciated. Location wise: we will be East on Cow Shoals Rd and then North on Ferguson. Looks like we are just south of a small group of trees/island on google maps. Thanks.

Easy- way. Power bait under small corks. Not fancy but works. My wife loves to trout fish.

I like to use 6lb. fluorocarbon line on Rapala Countdown brown trout colored, also will bounce the bottom with heavy sinker with 18" leader to sunrise colored power bait with a small styrofoam pinch on float right in front of the hook keeps it out of the slime

Rapala Countdown in Rainbow color, small gold spoons, inline spinners (Mepps, Panther Martin, etc...) with either silver or gold blades have all been productive for me in the White River. I bet a white Road Runner head with a white crappie body might work as well. Pretty much anything with some flash.

Put a small bullet weight (helps with getting snagged in the rocks) on with no more than 6 pound line then tie on a number 6 bait hook. Place a splitshot about 12 inches from the hook. Use two power eggs to cover the hook and fish just like you would for catfish. Or, use one power egg and tip the hook with a wax worm. If they are generating water, a spoon works well, especially on the initial water rise and fall.

All these methods should work great, but im afraid this weekend the river is going to be high and possibly muddy depending on where your located.
