I use power bait on a small hook with split shot about 18'' above the hook. My favorite was Rainbow colored power bait in the little preformed nuggets. At times small roostertail spinners work good too.

Carolina rig with a 1/8 ounce egg sinker with a small swivel then about 12 inch leader with 4# line with a #10 hook some pink and white powerbait and you can catch all the fish you want! You can drag it while drifting in a boat or throw it out and let it sit either way works!

The last time I went trout fishing was with Jeff Smith founder of trout magnet. 3 of us caught probably 60 or 70 in about 3 hours, releasing them of course. Above the shoals we would anchor the boat, you could do this from the bank, cast up steam some and using a small float to keep the trout magnet just off the bottom, and keeping the slack out of your line, let it drift down stream until it's not free floating any more. Then crank it in and do it again.

Wow guys thanks for all the replies. I'm hoping we can catch a few while we're up there. I'm a little worried about the water conditions now. We will just be walking down from his house and fishing from the bank. Will the water need to be high, low, rising or falling? If a boat is necessary, I see that we can rent just the boat for $25 and boat and motor for $120. How difficult will it be to get back up stream with paddles only?

With all the influx of water and rainfall to come paddling back up stream would be more than likely impossible and even with a motor it could be pretty dangerous. Alot of it just depends on how close you are to the dam.

Going up to the Anglers Expo at Heber Springs Saturday and going to try it at the swinging bridge. Was that way last month and the water was high. Using 6lb test with small barrel weight with about 16 inch 4lb leader and two power baits on bottom and the power bait floats up off the bottom.

Well it's getting closer to the weekend and I'm worried about all the rainfall today and tomorrow. What do the veterans think the fishing will be like this weekend?
