Default Jon boat fix up o

got a 14 ft Jon boat with 15 hp Merc. I would like to install a foot controlled trolling motor in the bow area and a small pedestal of some sort to double pole crappie out of the front end of the boat. not sure where to start.

any help appreciated. doesn't need to be fancy, just functional.

mainly fish conway and little Maumelle River.

    thanks,
    paul

Paul, it really depends on the boat. Is it a true jon boat with a square nose, semi mod v?? I have an aluminum bracket that I had welded to the front deck of my boat and mount the tm to that. Post a picture and I'm sure you will get more help than you may want. I for one will be glad to share my ideas of what works for me.

Yes, it is a true Jon with square nose, a Sea Ark. Going to Conway today and will try to get some pictures posted tomorrow or Saturday. Thanks for the picture idea, never thought of that.

Check out tinboats.net, can probably find a pic or ideas there for your situation. GL

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

They make a universal mounting bracket for the trolling motor. It screws to the bow and has an adjustable leg for the correct height you screw to the deck. Your TM mounts on top of it. They are fairly inexpensive. 25-30 bux.

Size: 88.7 KBI did what you are wanting to do this weekend with my 14' X36" war eagle with a 15hp motor. I built the frame out of 3/4" square tubing and decked it with 5/8" plywood covered in marine carpet. I built a trolling motor mount along with an elevated graph stand. I have attached a few pictures but they are not the best quality.

Excellent first post. Way to jump in there and help out. Looks good, reminds me of when I did my first boat, way back when.

I sold this 16' johnboat last year and wish I still had it.
These pictures show the trolling motor mount and also some anchor mate set ups on front and rear
