Has anyone heard of this? I was told a $35 permit to fish and $25 permit to unload boat at the park. When does it go into effect?

It's my understanding that a group of investors purchased the lake from the paper company. And there been some discussions regarding them charging for fishing and/or other fees such as property owners having to pay to have docks on the lake, ect. There has been a lot of resistance from property owners and it's my understanding they have hired an attorney to represent them regarding these issues. However, I can't vouch for the accuracy of this information or the proposed costs of potential permits. I do know investors don't expend money on something that they don't think they can get a return on their investment from. So it is reasonable to think they are going to charge somebody something somehow.

What MacDaddy said. Supposedly they are recouping money
spent on lake dam repair and mowing.

It is true that the permits are on sale at the baitshops, but participation is yet to be seen. The Game and fish will not enforce these stickers. I'll add these two links so you can get a better understanding.

I don't do facebook so I have no idea what those say. However, I figure it will be difficult at best for them to enforce the fishing permits unless they want to hire someone to do some kind of fulltime patrol, additional expense for them, and I still don't know how they would actually enforce anything. They might have to have people at every boat ramp to prevent you from launching without a permit, but then again the cost would be too much to make sense.

Are you going to buy one Don? It's been my experience that it's hard to get people to pay for something they've done for free all their lives. A friend on mine purchased a large tract of land once that people had hunted on at will for years. Trying to change them from doing so was an incredibly difficult thing to do. They set it on fire almost every year, which wound up being a good thing, for years. Destroyed any improvements, such as fences, stands, ponds, or buildings as soon as they could. People don't like change. I haven't, but I'd pay it if necessary, too good of a place to fish not to, again if necessary.

I will not buy one until it is absolutely necessary to be able to fish there. This Agred Foundation is trying to screw everyone around the lake. The lake and land was donated to them from International Paper under the understanding that they would maintain the lake as International Paper had done in the past. Now they are trying to charge people to have a boat house or a dock and now to fish. It is BS pardon my french.
