Side Image you have to be moving fairly fast from what I've heard to work well mounted anywhere.

Side imaging works from 1mph and up ... Match boat speed to to unit speed and u will get good results ... When I bought my 899 I didn't know there was a HI DEFINTION TRANSDUCER available for a $80 upcharge ... Ended up buying the HI DEF TRANSDUCER and have been very impressed ... SI will work on the TM AS long as u drive straight!!

Using a 998 mounted on TM. Works great and you are not quite as far ahead of any structure once the SI shows it. Add the speed of the processor and the speed of the boat and 17-18 ft. of distance makes a difference. Any thing 1-4 MPH works well for me.... I will also use trolling motor aiming dead ahead for propulsion and use the big motor as a rudder when scouting for brush for a stealthier approach.
