Jigtime
After a long time of trying different ways to rig I settled on this method. I came up with it from the need to be flexible with my wt and necessity to keep my hardware as it is the most expensive part.
I start off with a three way swivel, I like the t-turn swivels. They are popular with the walleye guys. I add a duo lock snap to the end of it. This enables me to use trolling weights in various sizes depending on shallow water, fast or slow presentation. Snap the different wts on and off very easily. I then use 8lb eighteen inch line from the three way swivel to my jig or hook. The reason being is if and when I get hung up I want my jig or hook to break off and keep my sinkers and swivel. I rarely fish two hooks as twice as much to lose. I can retied a jig when break off and back off to fishing. I keep extra line and jigs in the boat ready to replace. You can make a loop knot on one end and tie the jig to the other end. When you break off you can just use the spares to get back going quickly. I don't spend a lot of time trying to get un hung I just give a good pull break off jig and keep fishing. Hope this works for you as well as it has me

Good stuff. What weights do you use most often. Or can you give a general weight to speed ratio?
Hey Arkansasbowhunter where can you find those t-swivels and those type weights? Can't say I've seen those types. Thanks
Deeper I use 1/2 oz 80% of the time. I also use 3/4 and 1 oz at times for 1.0 mph or faster. In the summer I use 2 oz to power troll 1.5. The faster you go the more wt is needed to keep baits in front of the boat. Some guys when they troll faster let out more line and the baits swings under the boat in deeper water. Can't do that in shallow water so need more wt. the rig I use is very simple and manageable. When u get hung up don't stop but grab line and break off the leader, retie or use the pretied loop leaders. Either way works and keeps me fishing and not breaking rods. I fish 8 poles in brush and timber and don't sweat it. When you get multiple rods hung don't panic hit the release on the reel and let line peel out till you can get them pulled free or break the leader.
With that said lightwirehooker or aka Curtis Dobbs makes a great jig with a light wire hook that will easily bend with a good pull on the line. You can restraighten the hook easily and will hold a 2 lb fish also good. I use them when I fish cover and regular heads when not it cover but open water.
Some folks use the bull shot crimp on wt and they work good but will also pull off the line at times. They change easily also but only go up to 1/2 I believe.
Just one of my productive rigs I use. With that said there is a difference in meat hunting and tourney fishing and I have other rigs for that too. Most guys on the tourney trail will use 2 hooks per line.
The one jig or hook bait will ride at a 90 degree angle or slightly up sloped to the wt and line with my rig. This helps with hang ups as the wt bumps the cover first.
Google t turn swivel. They are pricey but worth it and I don't lose many a yr. you can find the wts at academy or Google trolling wts. They are also on eBay. I use 30lb braid or 15lb mono for my reel line. So the 6-8 lb leader has always broke first.
