Man I was having real good luck about 2 months ago in there. I was bass fishing. I killed em on pads early then would get on the trees, and submerged tree tops right out in front if the boat ramp, after the sun came on up, and used a chartreuce blueback crankbait 8ft diver and let it bump off the timber. Caught alot of fish. It would b mixed bag like that. Would catch white bass, largemouth, drum, and some whopper crappie. I never tried vertical jigging it. And its too stumpy to spider rig or troll crankbaits. And better not plane out on big motor either unless u are wanting to use ur insurance on ur boat. If u have side imaging graph you can find the fish schooled up and have a good time in there. When cranking I would stay in the 7-11 foot range.

yea it's got too much wood in it for any kind of trolling...a lot of crappie are caught vertical jigging the stick ups and submerged stumps right out in front of the camp ground and the finger pockets up the canal from there...it's a green carp haven if that's your thing...good luck

It will be the end of the month before I'll be there. I'll be in a yak so vertical jigging will have to do.
If anyone wants to meet up for some group fishing or give me a ride, come on.

The green carp taste a little better than catfish, so I'll keep any I can catch. I'd love some fresh gator steaks, but I think the catch in a yak would draw a lot of attention.

There's one that hangs around Moore's bayou that would eat that one and still be hungry.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

Saturday afternoon in the rain we walked the campground. We spotted a gator about 75 yards out from the boat ramp. Then we walked through D section to the point. Another gator was in the edge of the channel about 30 yards out. As we were leaving section D we saw another one in that cove. Nimrod, they were about the size of the one you got.
It was one wet weekend for sure. I got about 3 hours of fishing, half was in the rain. Couldn't find them.
