    Default Help around Shoal Bay

Hey guys, with the weather being nice this weekend I'd like to take my retired grandpa out and catch some crappie. He has a house directly across the boat ramps on the water at Shoal Bay so we are real familiar with the narrows there, but that's about the only place we have caught many crappie. He just bought a new Humminbird 899 and we'd like to try it out and hopefully find some fish. We are definetly not opposed to pulling the boat somewhere other than Shoal Bay if we should. Would anyone be so nice as to give us some advice so I can get this old fart on some fish? Thanks in advance!

I wish I knew what to tell you, I haven't heard of any great reports anywhere on Dardanelle as of late. Only Fosh has been reporting anything positive and I think he's been fishing the pitts. You might look through some of his posts as of late and see if you can find anything you can use. Or you might PM him and see if he can help you.

Been catching a few on double minnow rig in the pits. Last.weekend I was catching'em 55 to 60 feet deep just off the bottom. They have been kinda scattered out I'd catch one or two here and there.

I fish the big D literally every weekend and will be out there this one too. Past two weeks have been bad slow. Went with a buddy to the shoal area to help him scout for a bass tourney and didn't see any shad so idk how good shoal would be. I wasn't in the main shoot so yeah you never know. I mainly fish the east side of the lake. I know a lot of people that fish it and have not heard any good reports lately so sorry.

Thanks for the help! Should we load up and go to Conway? Never been there but they seem to be smacking them!

That would be your best bet , Dano at Gold Creek will direct you to the community fishing hole at Willamina Cove.

Thanks again. We have been talking about maybe going to Gold Creek or staying closer to Van Buren where we live. We definetly are not pros so I'm worried about getting to a crowded place and making goobers of ourselves lol. Will Gold Creek be crowded on a Sunday?

Dont worry about looking like a gubber. Just watch whoever is catching the most fish and mimic what they are doing. Might see you there. I will be the gubber in the wareagle with the tohatsu.
