    Default Reel question

Does anyone have an opinion on an Okuma Safina Pro 10 spinning reel?

I did not want to buy something that had a lot of problems. I found them on line at, what I thought, was a good price. How easy the bail flips over is a major thing with me and I have not found any that I could feel or handle.

Not a bad price for 3 ball bearings. But it's too heavy for me.

I use the Mitchell 310xe. It has 8 BB's and only weighs 6.8 oz. It's smooth and I have one on about every crappie rod. It's the best I've found for my budget.

    JMHO....

I have a Okuma Stinson on one of my Jig Poles, been fishing it for four years hard with no breakage. Okuma makes a fine reel IMO.

Have had Pflueger reels for as long as I can remember, mainly the president model, have never had a problem with them, as far as closing the bail, I close them by hand. They are not as high priced as some reels, but aren't cheap either, but the longevity and quality makes up for the slightly higher price. Try just one, for crappie I use the 6725/6730 or 6925/6930. IMO

i'm guessing you're referring to reels for a spinning rod? for jig poles i have several of these and they do just great and are CHEAP! http://www.walmart.com/ip/Shakespear...-Reel/21092409

I've tried several under spin reels including that Synergy and have found them all to be low quality pieces of junk. I'll stick with spinning reels. But that's just my experience.

Have had good luck with different Okumas. I also have several mitchells that have been good. The last I bought were pfluegers because I figure what ever crappie pro uses would be good enough for me.
