    Default Making fish attractors

I would like to make some fish attractors this winter. Need to know from some of you that as had good results form the past with your fish attractors. I noticed from the 2013 slide show that is posted on here, that there is some made out of bamboo, some plastic PVC pipe, and it looked like some old planks that was sticking up out of a cinder blocks that the planks were held in place by cement. Let me know what your favorite attractor is, and the durability of it. I am not much on work, it needs to hang in there for a few seasons.

Wood seems to work better for me. Location means a whole lot.

I personally put out bamboo in a 5 gallon buckets full of quikrete. Fish get on it quickly, but the bamboo will not last. I have mixed bamboo and pvc to get a short term and long term benefit. Oak or cypress slabs or stakes driven in the bottom as well as hardwood pallets with the slats turned upright and reattached vertically work well. I've dumped in a few spots that I have yet to catch a fish. I've got a couple spots that will pretty well have a few fish anytime you go. I've dumped a few other spots that pretty well always have fishermen on them

I'm sure you have found the structure forum here on Crappie.com. Lots of good stuff there.

My favorite is pallet stake beds made from hardwood pallets with Cedar or Hardwood stakes nailed on upright. We sink with rocks inside and only thing we buy is nails or screws , everything else we get for free. There are several on here that have helped build and fish them. Sure alot easier on tackle, fewer hang ups over most other wood cover.

If u want it to hold a lot of fish go with wood. But if u want to hold just a few big fish and make it hard for others to find I would go with PVC. Don't hold as many fish as our other brush piles but always has better fish on them.

I feel that your hardwood pallets and slabs last longer. I have a hard time with pallets. I can only set 1 at a time and by yourself it is not a easy job. If you are putting them on water that is drawn down and you can walk or drive to the spot, I would use pallets or slats drove into the ground.
I use bamboo because I can get all I want and it is easy to put out. I can put 6-8 buckets in my boat and set them out in no time at all.I leave some branches on the bamboo and fish will come to them quick.

Billy e , I can haul 4 pallets beds on my boat and sink with no trouble alone. I have a 16' x 48 '' Alumaweld boat. They sure hold larger average fish , thick stuff like brush or boo load up with dinks.

Would like to see some pics of your pallet beds.

Have a couple of big ponds that we hop. They have ALOT of brush in them so something that might "hold" the fish a bit better would be nice. Although trolling is fun.

We have LOTS of pallets from our house being built

But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 25:15
