    Default Trolling Motor Advice....

What trolling motor would you guys suggest? I'm really looking at the minnkota powerdrive v2 & adding the co-pilot (not ipilot).....anyone have this or tried it?

I've got a power drive drive with the copilot. I actually have the 55lb thrust and it draws less power than my older hand controlled motor. The copilot or ipilot option is the only way to go because the foot pedal sucks on the powerdrive.

I just bought and installed a Powerdrive V2 (55lb./48 in.) two weeks ago. Used it last week for four days at Greers Ferry. Made two days on the battery, although I have a transom mount trolling motor too so it took some of the load.

I'm tickled with it, but I agree with Slabber--I'm not crazy about the foot petal. It's not designed well, and it's a little hard to control at times. CoPilot is a good idea, and I may be headed that way. Just want to make sure that the problem isn't between the motor and the seat first.

I only have a hand trolling motor now. I like to get something that would work with the i-pilot. I know at this minute I could not buy it new. That the different in the Powerdrive V2 and terrova in the 12v 55lb with IP

    I HATE the electric steering...
You have one speed of turning...

With a cable steer you can turn instantly, verrrrry slow, or anywhere in between....

With the electric.... It's just..... WELL IT SUCKS! IMO

But in the stowed position is is indeed Awesome...

    Different strokes for different folks...
Slabber loves it and I'm glad he does! Lol

I have a 55lb thrust with just the foot pedal. It's a great trolling motor and easy on the battery. I like being able to move the foot control anywhere in the front or back of the boat but I've never really mastered controlling it. I think the copilot would be a wise investment.

You must get the copilot. I have an older v1 with copilot. I really like it spider rigging feet free nothing in the way. My v1 steers a lot slower with the copilot so you can control it better. I like mine. The foot pedal does suck.

What type of fishing will you be doing, single pole jigging, spider-rigging, longlining?
