    Default Trolling Motor Install

After years with a transom mounted trolling motor, I gave in and bought a Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 55/48 bow mount. I also bought a quick release mount so I can store the motor.

The quick release mount came with no instructions, and I'm not finding much on the web. Mounting isn't complicated--it's four bolts. However, I'm not sure where to align the mounting plate. One video I saw on YouTube located the plate flush with the edge of the platform on a jon boat, but I'm mounting on a v hull, so it's not quite the easy, especially since it needs to be angled so that the motor stays inside the boat when stowed.

Any advice about mounting the plate for the quick release? Also, didn't know I needed a 60 AMP circuit breaker to install this puppy. I can get one online, but I'm headed to Greers Ferry on Tuesday for the week, and I'd like to get this done this weekend. Anyone know where I can get the circuit breaker in Central Arkansas?

The Troling Motor Shop in Pine Bluff. Wayne can also tell you where your mount needs to be.

The mount needs to be lined up with the front on it lined up with front edge of the boat. If you have a v hull, you may have to get you someone to fix u up a mount.

Just "Mock it up" and look at it.....
Move it where it needs to be.....

I installed one a while back. I just put it all together and moved it up till everything was clear... Then "Nail it"
It doesn't matter if its at an angle..

    Joe,

My wife thinks your a bad influence since I've been known to eyeball things more often than I should, but I followed your advice, and I think it worked. Everything clears and I'm somewhere near the center line. I'll see on Tuesday.

    Thanks for the advice.Name: motor.JPG

Won't get it today, but I ordered this model and I have had no problem with it. Had it installed for 2 years now. 50 Amp 12V DC Circuit Breaker Replace Fuse 50A 12VDC | eBay

Looks good to me. A word of caution, the foot pedal is a pain in the @$$%, I would recommend getting the coPilot option or i-Pilot if you can afford it. My motor is the legacy power drive, so no i-Pilot for me. I have the coPilot and it works flawless.

I've heard this about the foot pedal several times. Has me worried a bit, but I'll try it and see. After using a hand-controlled trolling motor for years, I've been looking forward to having my hands free.

I had to use to foot pedal like a remote for a remote control car until i got the coPilot. The foot pedal is poorly designed IMO.
