Anybody with eyes can see that this post was initiated to offend and stir the pot...."kinda takes the sport out of it"???????...what "fuss" is he talking about??? (other than the one he is trying to start).....The very first sentence of the post should have clued everyone in on it's purpose..... I will say this, where is the sport in fishing a pothole where anybody that can put his own pants on in the morning can catch a limit of "eaters" single-poling in an hour? I like the thrill of catching BIG Crappie!!! I would much rather catch one three-pounder than a hundred "tater chips". I could care less about sitting all day long with one pole catching 8-10 inch fish that offer no challenge whatsoever.....what could be more boring than that??....I can go to the O. River West of Crossett tomorrow and catch 200 like a friend did three days ago (but they are all gonna be 8-10 inch fish). Some people love to do that and I have absolutely no problem with it if it makes them happy. BTW, he only kept enough to eat for supper. It's the possibility of catching the BIG ONE that gives me that thrill like no other!! Call it the thrill of the Chase if you want! There are a zillion techniques used in spider rig fishing and more being discovered every day (many by accident) so don't think it is just dragging minners across a bed of fish because if that is all you have ever done then you haven't scratched the surface. Sometimes we spider fish with different techniques just to see what works on the big fish all the while knowing that we could easily fill the box with smaller ones if we would revert back to a different presentation or technique. For us at least it ain't about how many fish we are catching so much as the size. We place a very high value on Large Size Crappie and that is what drives us. P.S. enter the next CrappieMasters in your area and you might find out what that "fuss" is along with some real "sport"....and maybe meet some really great folks and fishermen at the same time!

    But...
I just don't get it... Where is the fun?
    No thump!
Or is it strictly about putting meat on the table?
It's like fishing yoyos... A pile of fish is great, but it kinda takes the sport out of it IMO.

I fish brush, trees, grass, well.. Any type of cover. I have NEVER trolled..
Am I missing out on something?

Is there a successful single poler that has made the switch?

Again, I mean no disrespect, just wondering what all the fuss is about..
