Those are some dang good fish Nimrod! I have always wanted to catch some on a pole but never have! Gonna have to put that on the list for this summer!
"Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn." - Chuck Clark :D
First came from Arkansas River in late 1970's. The next two photos were Lake Conway. Man last time Conway was drawn down we killed them. Guess it was about 1998 and we used bass rods baited with shiners in a flatbottom in Greens Lake. The Flatheads stacked up in the deeper holes with Conway so shallow.
This summer fish live Green Sunfish called Rice Slicks at night below Nimrod Dam. Best fishing is after years with lots of high water releases.
I like to limb line Petit Jean River in early summer with high water. Used to run Noodles on Nimrod too. Nothing better than feeling the familar tug and thumping of a big Flathead at the end of a line.

I've had some good catfish meals out of Conway. No monsters like Nimrod's pics, but good 4-5 lb eaters. I've only gotten channel cats, though. Mostly fishing the old channel off of Pierce (had a feller tell me about that channel one day last summer, and them channel cats run it pretty good).
Those are some great pictures and memories for you Nimrod. I have never targeted flatheads, most of mine have been caught while fishing for other fish. My best was a 23# caught in a bass tournament on Catherine on a 1/2 oz jig.Slackline
