My trolling motor won't do 20mph!
I have run 90+ mph on lake Conway, but I usually keep my speed within the 60 to 70 mph range. Less stumps to hit when the only thing in the water is the prop. The faster you run the safer it is for your boat and outboard most of the time.
Welcome to the home of the, boat eating, trolling motor busting, prop bending, lower unit smashing, stump filled mud hole called Lake Conway.

If your in the boat trail your good.
Some folks think they are in the boat trail and hit stumps when they are actually not in the trail.
I know of one spot in the #1 trail I have hit something. Prolly a log.
Save A Minnow, Use A Jig
As i stated before, dont be fooled by the boat trails. It is easy to get out of the lanes, but there are stumps inside the lanes too. You are not likely to have any problems when the water level is normal, but the way they have been running the dam, stumps can come up over night, especially in the summer. I know most of you guys could run the trails in your sleep, but there are a lot of new Conway guys on here that probably think they can because they have witnessed one of Guru's 90 mph runs up the lake. This could be dangerous for a rookie or even an old pro if they aren't paying attention. Just a reminder.

Yep weather your new to the Lake or have been fishing her all your life you better respect Lake Conway...She can be a widow maker. I can think of at least four men she has killed and I dont know many times she has caused near death experiances. To include myself...LOL

My big motor goes about 5 mph on that lake. I would rather bump a log than go swimming.
