    Do you set your yo-yo's.

looks like that is the only way I'm gonna get to fish. I know, you guys without a job and rent houses, business to run, and others live stuff think yo-yo,s aren't good. But, gotta do what you can to put fish in freezer.

Set them to where they are splashing on the surface, this attracts a lot of attention, especially during a full moon. I never set them deeper than a foot at night.

6 - 12 inches always worked fine for me. Dont forget you have to have all your info on each yo yo! I use to use survey flagging and just wrote info on it for the day. Its legal and fun when it all comes together. No shame in that slipcork. Wish you the best of luck.....

Yeah I've always set them about a foot to a foot and a half deep but I've never left them out overnight. You shouldn't worry about what other people think as long as its a legal and you buy your own license then fish however you please. JM2C

I've never fished Yo Yo's but often wondered with crappie being soft lipped how a crappie of any size at all wouldn't pull out before you got there?? I know if folks have got them set in a cove where your fishing you can really load your boat once they start going off if the owners aren't around. Course if you see them coming you've really gotta to get away! Really I'd never do that I just wanted to see what you guys would say. Sad thing is there are guys who would run others lines. I've had em run my trotlines and throw lines before.

I usually go about 6-12 inches deep on mine. Any deeper than 12 inches and you will likely be dealing with a bunch of mudcats that will tear up your yo yos in a heartbeat. I personally have had no luck running yo yos during the day but and I just run them at night and stick with them. Another useful thing I have found is keeping the minnows fresh even if its still alive, I turn the bait every 2 to 3 hours. The reflector tape from Walmart work well also(I use red) cause I can shine my spotlight out and see the the yo yos bouncing and moving around with fish on them.
