Glad I saw you guys. The reason you didn't find that honey hole was because there was none to be found. Friday was the worst day for crappie I have ever had on Dardanelle, and I have fished it since it was backed up in about 1964. But the previous 3 days were as good as it gets for catching all slabs. I think the high high pressure along with the shad die off and the previous 3 days of gorging all contributed to the pathetic day we had friday. Of course you have to also consider that thousands upon thousands of crappie have been taken out of those narrows since October. I heard that shoal bay was the same way Friday. I will be in hot pursuit again Monday.
    It ain't nuttin but luck.

Ski trip, Sorry I am late with my reply. My first love is casting at those crappie, letting that jig slow sink and feel that thump. Second love is vertical with one or two poles. I tried spidering but didn't care for it but that's just me, may be that I am too old and lazy. I don't use minnows cause I have caught all I need with jigs and I tie a lot of mine and enjoy catching fish on my own ties. My son and I went to Piney new years day and a man and his son fished close to us using minnows and was catching 5 to our one. I finally figured out that I was under fishing the fish. I raised my jig to 12 feet and in no time we had a double limit of fat a---sed crappie. If the need arises I will buy a bucket of minnows. They were used years before there were jigs.

Hey JW your a troller so I guess your not a true sportsman, that's what Nimrod said. So you might as well just get you a big old bucket of minners and at least catch some fish when you come up to Dardanelle. Boys the fish are on a minnow bite it shouldn't be that hard to figure out. If your going to waste to time and gas just stop and get a few minnows to. But if you don't want to don't, me and the other minnow fisherman will gladly catch the fish you could of caught if you would of been fishing with minnows.
