I have used hitek and b&n. so far I like the pst's best. I would look at the rod Conway is selling too but probably out of price range for what u wanting to spend. Food for thought hold out and buy the good stuff as you will spend more in the long ring buying cheap first and then good stuff second. I know from experience!!!

Pinnacles are very good for the money. Great starter rods and if u want to upgrade later they are a good back up set. That being said the Ozarks are hands down the best rod I have ever used for trolling and I've had sets of pinnacles, PST's, Capps and Coleman's in the past.

Just avoid the Crappie Hunter's by Shakespeare! I've seen two new ones break in the middle not even the tip with dink crappie.

I have a 12'er, not enough backbone to land a minner. Are the Pinnacles pretty stout?

Yes they are plenty stout. Other than being a little heavy and not coming above a 12 footer I had no complaints about them.

Like ABH says. Dont buy your poles twice. Save up and get a good one. I have been using the ozark for 2-3 months and like Handi ,I love them.

I use pinnacles for trollin and have had very good look with them... Catch way more fish than a high $ wally Marshall troll Tec but maybe thts jus bc they r more flexible and I could see the lightest of bites on the pinnacles... They are heavy and I did have one tht had a bit of a curve to it but they have held up good and as far as strength iv landed a 35 lb Asian carp and them babies fight! ( took over an hour to land) ... If u live close to an academy sports u can get the tournament choice crappie rods and I liked them even better than the pinnacles and they were cheap but not long enuff for me.... Buy the pinnacles and save money for 4 Ozarks then u can add a s rig and fish with 8 poles... Fyi I troll with double jig rigs so I have 2 1/16 or 2 1/8 oz jigs so if u use 1/2 oz or 3/4 oz weights for minnow rigs tht might b slightly heavy for the pinnacles but prolly b fine
