Might depend on what your fishing for and where. In tight cover, clear water, type of fish etc. I like all for different types and conditions. But the tried and true mono is my favorite.

WOODY
braid for me if you're spin castin a jig and cork.
Longpolole tight linin I like mono mainly because you often fight tangles and the braid seems to be harded to untangle.
I use 6lb mono
Like was said before, there's a time and place for all of it. I like braid, with a leader in either mono, or floro, or a good co polymer. I like the Silver Thread AN-40 in silver. It has a smaller diameter per poundage.

I've tried all but I like braid
I keep it simple.....fluorocarbon for everything. Got too many wind knots in the braid so I chunked it!

A fisherman that is well season and experience will use all types of lines. You really asked a very broad open question, braid is a line that is really tough to fish with, you have to have a lot of time and experience to fish braid without having a lot of issues with it, braid is my preference all the way around, I like a 10/2 braid, the monofilament and copolymer line work better for the less experience fisherman getting started out. Flouracarbon line is a joke, it is abrasion resistant to a certain extent, I quess if you are fishing in open water with zero structure, flouracarbon line is ok. Flouracarbon line is tough when it comes to stretch, it has less stretch than monofilament and copolymer line.
