Same here slick, and what about winter fishing grenada? I have heard of that lake for a long time, the huge crappie..etc. a few details about the lake might be helpful,,size, depths,,river channels,,creek chanels...etc.

Here's some info about Grenada Lake...It was built in 1954, it's 35,820 acres full pool, 148 miles of shore line, 16 boat ramps.
It is a muddy lake, best color jigs ...orange jig head/ chartruse body, orange or chartruse jig head with chartruse body...blk head chartruse body, so anything with orange, blk, chartruse is good becuase of muddy color water.
The lake is feed by two rivers Skuna to the north, and Yalobusha from the east. Yalobusha runs as crooked as a snake, doubling back and forth, it's hard to stay on the river ledge [unless] you have a second depth. finder hooked up on the front of the boat shooting out at a angle in front, like walking with a flashlight in the dark to give you plenty of time to react to the sharp cruves on the river ledge.
Minnows work most all times spider rigging, or jigs. There are lots and lots of stumps below water line, starting at Chactaw Landing going east all the way past Young's Landing.
Water depth. can be 60 fow out in front of the dam, but most of the lake is shallow, 20 feet or less, with some bad mud flats out from Carvers Point running south about half way into the lake, and from the bank running north. You have to go between the mud flats or you could get stuck.
Grenada Lake is a flood control lake run by the core of engrs. There cabins on the lake at Huge White state park that run about $55 to $60 dollars per night, and they have a ramp.
The best time to fish is the last week of March, til two weeks into April. You can catch em by any way you fish, but most all people here spider rigg. If you see someone fishing with a rod and reel they are from out of state. Only 3 poles are allowed with no more than 2 hooks per pole. A crappie must be 12 inches long, and a 20 crappie limit per person per day.
Xring....Winter fishing can be good, I've caught limits in Dec. in 11 deg. weather, the minnow bucket was like crushed ice, and the minnows were froze, but thawed out in the water.
They were schooling tight, and we were catching them spider rigging real slow using jigs tipped with minnows.
If you go during the spawn the cabins book up early, like right now, so if you want one now is the time, or they will be booked up.
Grenada has all the major motels and shopping you will need. Out of state one day licsense is about $10 dollars, a 3 day is $18 dollars and change.
Also if you boat is a 16 foot or shorter you must wear a lifejacket will in your boat, if 16 foot or larger you only have to wear it while your using the big motor, and they will be at the ramp checking on the size and how many fish.

Crappie Cowboy,,that has to be the most complete overview of a lake I have ever seen, I actually feel like I have a grasp for the feel of Grenada. Great job of painting a picture with words.

It will be spring now,,before I can venture out to other states, but dearly love winter fishing for crappie. I have spent and spent and spent until the piggy banks ribs are showing and would never be confused with a pot bellied pig...lol I am a die hard jig fisherman and I have trouble getting them to fire in cold muddy water.

I certainly appreciate your taking time to give such a great run down on Grenada and if I see that I can make it down there come spring,,I'll bve begging for more imfomation.
