I was curious as to the logic behind the assumption that bigger the bait, bigger the fish theory... Seems to be true, so far... any input?

Well in most cases it does. Then there are times that even the bigger fish prefer smaller bait. But I have caught tiny fish in big baits to, though not a lot.

I perfer big baits cause Crappie feed on big Shad here. I like bigger baits also cause they have bigger hooks.

I have caught some 4" crappie on 2" crank baits. But I have also caught some that were over 16" on the same bait.

It all depends on what they want in my opinion.. You can catch nothing but slabs one day and then the all dinks the next on the same bait!!! If we knew all the answers then it would be catching instead of fishin!!! LOL Rofl

I agree. Catch lots of dinks on a big crank, but have caught some hawgs on a 1/32 jig. Depends on where they're located and what they're feedin on. Overall I like a bit larger bait because IMO the fish can see it and/or locate it better especially in stained or murky water.
