Does anybody have any MRI on Lake Adkins? I talked to the lady at lucky landing and she said that we could camp there and I also thought about camping on the Arkansas at Sweeden Island. Last time I looked at lake Adkins was when i was in college at Tech and it was bone dry when they were redoing it about ten years ago.

You are referring to Lake Atkins. Last I heard the big red ears were hot on Atkins. I have never fished it, but Have been wanting to for about a month. what do you mean MRI?

Ouachita has some excellent bream fishing. You just gotta find the beds. If you go to the north side of the lake like Avant there is plenty of free camping, its primitave of course, but great fishing. Let us know when and where the tourney is and I might join.

How about Greeson? It was a lot of place to fish where you don't have to have a bass boat.

And lots of big bream too.

I wanted to give you guys an update of our Bush Can Classic Bream Tourney. We held it on Lake Atkins last Saturday and it was a success. The fishing was tough as far as numbers and size as a whole but not as tough as Friday and Friday night setting up tents and camp in the monsoons! Friday we drove up and set camp up at Sweeden Island on the Arkansas River. We had smoked pork butts thursday night for supper that night so we didnt have to worry with cooking after seeing the forecast! Boys we got the rain Friday night up there but thank god one of my buddys brought a huge RV tent so we stayed dry for the most part and had a very festive time! The way we did the tournament was each team of two weighed there largest 25 bream. My BIL and I won with our 25 bream weighing in at 13.5 lbs. Between 8 teams nobody ever found any big beds it seemed that everyone would pick up one or two here and there. The large fish was a red ear that weighed exactly 1 lb! We had a great time and thanks for the suggestion because it worked out great and by no means did we hurt the population. Besides of the all the rain the locals said that the AGFC had fertilized the lake last monday which in there eyes shut the fish down. I dont know if thats true but i have never stuggled so hard to get a bite on a cricket or a worm. The reason we struggled might have been we saw lots of aluminum cans go from full to empty and moonshine come and go but we caught plenty for our fish fry on saturday night and let all of us get away from the wives and kids for a couple nights!

After using small jigs for bream fishing, I will never buy crickets or worms again. Just the other day I threw my cricket cages in the trash.

Regular moonshine ain't fit to drink,
Ya need to try some of uncle joes apple pie

your right about aint fit to drink but ever since we were kids some one always seems to pull out a jar at the big gatherings. Guess thats part of being raised in the south but i will admit i am pretty much smart on staying away from the fire water! What kind of jigs do you use for bream fishing?
