They make plugs that seal the top.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

Probably same reg`s as for yo-yo`s.
Checking the Regs is a great idea. Jugs and Noddles fall within a different law as YO-Yo's.
YO-YO's must be in sight all of the time---Jugs and noddles or limbs can be used at night and left unattended
Game Warden told me if you leave yo-yo's out at night you had better get to them the next morning before he gets to the location and find them not attended. Some guys stay with them all night as required by law.
A guy last year used yo-yo's and had them set to where the fish were pulled out of the water and it took him a long time to run them and most of the crappie he pulled out of the water died before he removed them
That's one good thing about floating yo yo's. They won't pull a fish out of the water.
Don't know why it is so hard to put a long line on your yo yo to put it close to the water.?

You can readjust tension on a yo-yo by taking a turn of line off the reel. That way the fish stays in the water.

I agree--I do not like for them to die---I keep mine alive until I clean them. The yo-yo's come with a 6 ft. line I think--some guys just hang them to high, not thinking-- all you need to do is attach a longer line to the top
The guy that set them out incorrect and pulled them out of the water--he angered many crappie fisherman and some one reported him--plus he got right in the middle of the fisherman when he placed them out and the other guys had to watch the crappie die, all of the time hollering for him to remove the fish. His line was short and prevented them from keeping their heads in the water.
If you permanently tie them out---I have had big cats or gar just tear them all to pieces--take all of the line and break the spring.
The floaties I love the square one--reminds me of a oil rig platform.
why wouldn't floating yo-yos be considered free floating devices if they aren't tied to a top?????

I can lay in my bed wathing tv, look out the window and see my dozzen yo yos hanging from trees on lake conway. Makes it way to easy. Don't. Be jealous
I assume the control that game and Fish has on yo-yo's is the trigger and the ability for them to snag fish, much like you or I.
The dead fish issue has been repeated by a couple of Game Wardens. I think they will give you a ticket if they find dead fish---might be an indication that you failed to run or check them.
I am just guessing, maybe one of them is correct.----I still think the trigger on the yo-yo is why they set regulations.
