Looks like something is working. Great catches.
One of the "Old Timers" on Lake Greeson had a guy fishing with him yesterday that caught a huge Crappie on a "Twister Tail" grub.
He called Carlos (one of the guides I work with) to have him come weigh it on our digital scales and it was right on 3-pounds, 12-ounces! Carlos didn't have a camera in the boat but his clients took some pictures and are going to mail one to me.
The best we could do was 2-pound, 4-ounces. But, our five biggest crappie averaged over two-pounds and we had my crew's limit with no dinks plus some bass and real nice bream (that didn't make the picture) so we were happy (at least until we heard about the 3-12)
Here's a better look at four of our 2-pound plus fish:
I keep hearing rumors that Lake Greeson isn't all that it's cracked up to be and that we're putting too much habitat -FISH HABITAT - in the lake (700 Condos in the last three years) but it looks to me like it's in better shape than I've seen it in the last 25-years I've Crappie Fished there.
Looks like something is working. Great catches.
I hear the same thing at Nimrod, but you can't put too much cover out in my opinion. A little just makes catching easier , a lot should help fishing overall. Looks like your doing well, Nimrod was white capping yesterday and wind was blowing big dead limbs out of the trees along the river.
We have over 200 condos (pallet stakebeds, buckets of boo, and tree tops ) out and still building. I'm helping ''Harold '' from the site and building a bunch of my own to sink as soon as the wind lays.
