What gauge wire do I use to hook up a fish finder?

Most are fused with only an amp or two fuse so 18ga would be okay although I generally do not use anything less than 16 ga. I have never had one of the big units but if the fuse is less than 5 amp or so 16ga would be okay.

A small wire will be fine. They are a low current device. It the wire run is from the back all the way to the front, 14 gauge would work good and not be bulky to run. I've done it with 16 gauge with no problems. You can tell from the size of the conductors in the power cord that it doesn't take a very big wire.

16 gauge, but 18 will work.

    Default Gauge Wire?

Just make sure you put an in line fuse and no more than 3-5 amp (read the manual or search on line). When I bought my demo boat it was not wired that way and eventually had problems. Lesson learned lol.
