We moved to the Springfield, Mo.area in 2001 and fished some of the local waters. On one of our first trips to lake Stockton we caught two or three pretty good walleye. We had always heard that these were really good eating fish so we kept them and cleaned them. So the next weekend we had a fish fry and cooked crappie, bream and walleye fillets. My wife and I both agreed the walleye was ok but the crappie was better. However, while we do like fried fish better than grilled - in the future we may try some of the walleye on the grill. D10 that did sound pretty good. The challenge would be to catch some more since we have not caught any in several years.

It you want to fry it, you can cut it in half (height wise) and it will fry up crispy. It is hard to beat a thick cut of walleye seasoned to perfection and baked or grilled. But my all time favorite, and secret weapon, is my beer battered walleye. When we have the next crappie camp (hint hint for someone to step up) I will bring some walleye and my secret beer batter recipi for the fish cooks to try. I even had an idea that we could have a fish cook off at the next camp. I think that would pretty cool.

D10...That is a great idea, that would settle the which is better deal. I would be there to try my taste buds out, and if walleye taste better I will stand up and testify...lol

I'm leaning toward walleye camp next spring...or whenever they decide to bite.

I'll take walleye any day!!! Over crappie anytime!!!

Matt, if you have walleye fillets, I will cook them at the next crappie camp if I'm there.

I have to agree with BRM (and that hurts), I'll swap crappie for walleye any time!!!
