    Do deer like them? I have an absolutely monster oak in the back that the previous owner said the deer will be all over, but he never mentioned the pecans.

    Deer eat pecans, but they are not preferred forage. Acorns are the preferred forage for deer. Your pecans look to be the native variety.

    Crows and squirrels will haul off every pecan you have, if you don't keep an eye on them. Definitely pecans.

    Hard to tell by the close up picture, but I do believe those are what I refer to as bitter pecans. Not a favorable forage but will be eaten if necessary. Not consumed by humans as the nut is bitter. I think the formal name for the tree is the water hickory.

    That was my first thought also. However, knowing where they are, we don't have a lot of those natively here like I'm used to seeing in the bottoms. Unless the trees are really large as in 50 years old or more, I suspect someone planted them. If so they should be good pecans. Even so deer prefer other mass crops if available.
