    Default Any hog hunters here?

I would like to do some hog hunting and as I understand it there is public land to do so in Georgia but I am not sure where to go at where to start getting everything I need I would offer a trade a trip but Indiana doesn't really have spectacular fishing or hunting

Google GON- Which is Ga Outdoor News, a magazine. Go to their website and you can see past articles. Spend a little time on there and you can find which WMA's (public land) traditionally have the best results. There are some hogs in the northern part of the state but from Macon Ga. south/ south east has the most... but public land also has lots of hunters. In Ga, there is no season on hogs, except on public land. There, hogs can be taken during any hunting season so if you want to avoid crowds, think late squirrel season with a 22 mag or muzzle loader. I know guys that do it this way, but check the regs because they can change from year to year. If you hunt the WMA's on the rivers, a small jon boat with motor that can be launched where there is no ramp can sometimes save you alot of dragging. Dragging a 150lb+ hog through that 2 miles of knee deep swamp that you had to go through to get away from the crowds can take the fun out of it.

Most public land is open to hog hunting but you will be limited on firearm by hunting with a firearm that is legal for a current open season. In other words, if the only season open is squirrel season, you can only hunt hogs with a firearm that is legal for squirrels.

Not many season open at the present time.

If you have some private land you can access, it's 24 hours a day 7 days a week with no firearm restrictions. You would just need landowner with your or written premission.

Feel free to pm me if you like. I'll help all I can.

Most AGFC WMA are limited to Deer season now. We used to hunt them after Deer season before now they want them undisturbed so they can trap them.
