Can't beat the woods filling up with ducks as you hug a tree. I envy you having a private spot. Last couple years I've been doing well hunting on the Cache and L'anguille. Good luck this season. Try to have fun and be safe.
There are lots better places to duck hunt. You know the St Francis. Here today, gone tomorrow. Me and my hunting buddy had plenty of time to think about buying a spot while sitting on the river watching empty skies. 7 or 8 years ago we pretty well saw what was coming so we bit the bullet and bought a place together. It may be the best investment we've ever made. What makes it so great is that it has a deep slough on the east side, a shallower slough right down the middle and the back half is an oak ridge. We couldn't have asked for a better setup. We will have water somewhere on us except when it is extremely dry.

RCC and Gindog are beginning to sound accident prone. Lets hope the don't team up or it could be bad!

That's the reason I do not duck hunt. Do not like cold water!

We've always got room for kids. We hope to put my buddies 8 year old grand son on his first duck. We try to put the ducks on the water before we shoot anyway. The only problem is the hunting is so inconsistent kids may get bored. One of the high lights of all my duck hunting was carrying a young kid and him killing his first duck and him hollering when it went down. Now he is grown, has a family of his own, and is a duck killing machine and a band magnet.

Putting a big bunch on the water in a little woods hole will ruin anyone for life.

Glad you weren't hurt. I "slid" a couple of boats out of the ditches on Big Lake trying to turn. That's no fun especially when it chunks you out of the boat!
Settin a big bunch of ducks in a timber hole does spoil you! Come on Saturday!!
