Could use a ram mount on the bow and it would just "adjust" out of the way when needed, or make your own mount to "adjust" out of the way.
Just started this to mark the progress as I go.
First piece was the mount for the console 798. This is a 1/4 x 3 piece of flat aluminum plate bent and bolted into the track on the rail. It is in place to check the fit. This seems to be OK, so it is ready to be pulled off and painted to finish.
Today, I worked on the bow mount for the 998. I wanted to mount it directly in the center to maintain symmetry, but it would be right in front of the latch for storage. I could work around it, but I may just offset it a bit.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
A little progress. Gotta drill the right size holes through my pilot holes to finish mounting. This will all pull off for finish and paint. I think the transducer mount for the transom will be the next piece. Gotta scratch for more aluminum pieces. This would be much easier if a guy had a band saw and a die grinder, but what fun is easy.

That sure is a fancy set up for a looser, but I agree on looking the part. The whole skill thing is way over rated and I can punch buttons and drink beer all day on one of those. All kiddin aside nice rig.

Got the trolling motor slide mount in today. This mount will allow the Terrova to be slid so it doesn't hang over the edge of the boat when loading and unloading. I was hoping all the existing holes from the previous TM would line up, but this wasn't the case. As a work around, I built an adapter for the back end to allow all the existing holes to be used without punching new ones.

I had just a little bit of the afternoon left, so I started on what I intended to do today. The goal was to create a transducer mount that would use existing holes. The only fasteners I saw on the back were the motor mounting holes, so I removed the lower starboard mounting bolt. I will use this one bolt to secure the transducer bracket. To keep the bracket from moving right to left if the bolt somehow loosened, I used a 3/8 self tapping bolt ran backward through the bracket so the head will fit into the slot of the motor mount. The end of the self tapping will be cut off and ground flush.
This leaves a 1/2 inch gap between the bracket and hull. I am afraid this will cause a disturbance in the water around the transducer so I intend to make a trip to TSC and purchase some rubber mat, which will be cut to the correct size, 1/2 inch, to close the gap between the bracket and hull. I will then bond the mat to the aluminum with epoxy. If this does not bond as it should, I will supplement the epoxy with screws.
