You furnish gas, food, lodging, transportation, bait, and it's still worth it

I guarantee they can make you a better fisherman in a short while. I'd love to get back that direction myself.

[QUOTE=LMBarnett;2361162]I have some buddies that want to go fishing, but then they want me to do it all, find the fish, clean the fish, cook the fish, pa y for the gas and bait, and snacks and beer.

Can I be your new fishing buddy? By the way I like cold Budweiser Beer. Don't mind if we use your boat too.

I know the feeling, most are great to furnish everything just for ya to show them where and how to fish. I had some locals that thought they just show up with nothing and leave with a bag of fish. I was going anyway , so it did not cost anything to go with me. I have some good friends that refuse to let me buy gas or lunch unless I get the money to the cashier before they do. I feel guilty when they don't let me pay something. Great if ya can swap fishing trips and furnishing the boat part of the time.

The past few years my fishing partner hasn't payed for anything. I have to supply everything. bait the hooks and clean the fish. And decide what snacks and drinks to bring . But, I wouldn't have it any other way. Here he is with his first fish on his new 11' pole.

I usually don't have any of those until duck season comes about. I make them do the hard work and earn there keep. Most of the time the boat is "full" for those folks.

If somebody would take his boat and truck I'll pay for everything else. I never can find anyone to make me the same deal. had one friend go and lose a tackle box full of baits, a jar or 2 of nibbles and break a pole or two. Told me if I can't afford to go I oughta quit.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

It seems like this is a never ending story. You try to do something good and you end up getting taken advantage of. I don't mind sharing the boat. And most times, if you at least offer to pay for some stuff , I will be good with that. The person I hate is one that thinks because it is your boat, that you should have it furnished for guests. Slabyanker's fishing partner is the best kind. The actually do appreciate it, and the memories more than pay for the gas and the treats.

Years ago my first wife and I carried mycousin and her now ex-husband to Lake Livingston in Texas with us. After we are at the lake and about to eat he claims he has left his wallet at home. My wife and I had already figured out that the two of us could eat in the restaurant cheaper that we could take stuff just for the two of us. So of course we had not hauled a bunch of groceries up to the lake with us. So we wound up feeding the two of them for the weekend. Needless to say we never took them again.

Geez. I'm willing to PAY 100% for a trip to Dardanelle for anyone that has GPS coordinates I can steal while they fish!

I'll clean the fish. I'll split the fish (they have two sides, best I remember), OR I'll give up all of 'em for the chance to figure that place out.

I will TRY and keep my mouth shut during the trip. I doubt this will happen, so nothing in writing there.

But yeah, I had a duck hunting "buddy" long ago that did that. My boat, my truck, my decoys, he would eat a sandwich in front of me, pay ONE DOLLAR for gas (literally), and then at 10:00 announce "I forgot to tell you, but I have to be home at noon". Borrowed my boat and trailer one time, wrapped it around a tree, brought it home bent, and left............seriously.

Sounds like some of the guys you take fishing! You ever thought of chunking 'em overboard??
