We use a lot of persimmon for fishing structure here in Ok! Have been supplementing it with PVC and Hdpe.

Very Nice...that stuff is gonna outlast our children's children.
That is exactly why we started using PVC, Hedge Apple, and other hardwood....plus we were all aging and didn't feel like adding Christmas trees every 2 years! lol
We figured if we were going to spend the time, money, etc, we might as well make it permanent.

Yep, it was really beautiful at 4am, when i got up....had the whole house lit up!
At 5, going to work it almost looked like it was dawn!lol

Those really are great nights to fish, caught some of my best fish under a full moon!
Bad thing is, you better have some serious bug spray....or you'll come home fully drained of blood. Also the 'coons at CJ are very large and not afraid of you...at all!

You talk about the coons not being scared of you your not kidding. Was fishing about 300 feet from campground beach and heard a big splash behind me. I turn to see 2 coons eyeballing me like I was about to be on an episode of coons of anarchy.

Some of the best times that I have had at CJ were while SUMMER night fishing....For those wanting to try it, you sure won't be disappointed.
First of all you need the SAWYER Fishermen's BUG SPRAY....you can get it at Walmart in the camping section for about 5 bucks....this stuff does not melt Nylon, or effect fishing line, lures, etc....and it REPELS EVERYTHING...ticks, mosquitos, biting flys, no-see-ums, etc...and it doesn't stink or leave you an oily mess.
Second you need a good flashlight, but you also need a good head or hat light WITH THE RED LIGHTS....THE RED LIGHT allows you to see, but it does not draw bugs and other animals...I only use the regular lantern or flashlight to get me to the water and then I turn it off!

Jesse is right...no animal at CJ is afraid of Man...they know it is safe...deer come right up to you, 'coons, skunks walk by, dang Geese bout scare the crap out of you when you walk up on them, seen foxes, muskrats, ground hogs, etc, as long as you pay them no mind, they walk away.
You get a good laugh watching the 'coons rifle through every trash can, whether it has a lid on or not.....I swear that every 'coon, skunk, fox, etc, that comes down to the water by you, CATCHES A FISH...I've seen it a hundred times...they are way better fishermen than we are...I don't think that they ever miss!
Dale has been out at night and loves it...he would much rather fish at night because it is "COOL"!
Two of the largest Bass I have ever seen were at night out there...Steve "The Infamous SpringfieldBassGuy" caught the largest Smallie I have EVER seen, on a Black 1/8th oz Chatterbait with a Black/Blue Keitech 3.8" as a trailer...As he lipped it and pulled it out of the water, it flipped off and landed at his feet, it seemed like slow motion as Steve tried to grab it, and the fish swam away...he wanted to cry and I stood there in amazement!
The second was the Largest Bucket Mouth I have ever seen, coming up out of the water to crush a Topwater buzzbait. Dale and I were fishing on a platform and I was cruising a WARRIOR Black Shad Buzzbait parallel to the bank...he was beside me watching, and told me I was never going to catch a fish doing that cause it was making so much noise....and right when it was about 5 feet away, this MOUTH came out of the water and hit the lure so hard it flew out of the water and wrapped around Dale's neck...he was scared to death...when he realized what happened he wanted the other Buzzbait...he did catch three nice ones after that with it. Also after that, I used a trailer hook on everything!lol
Both of my largest lake Gators were taken at night also, both were 29.75", I never have caught a 30 incher from CJ yet but I know they are there, both of the 29's are still there also....at night in the Summer, everything comes close to shore to feed on shad...you will see and hear TOP-WATER DESTRUCTION of entire schools of shad...I have seen schools of Smallies acting like wolfpacks and caught many of them, same with WB, Crappie, etc...if you are lucky enough to hit a feeding frenzy, you will cherish it forever! It really does spoil you when you catch big fish after big fish for an hour or more...then it stops, and all is quiet...you might as well leave for another area, because that area is dead for awhile.
The best part of night fishing in the summer, is if you are away from the Marina, you are alone! Peace and "Mother Nature Only" Quiet! Normally you may see 1 boat, sometimes none.
Sometimes we fish from dusk til midnight, sometimes dusk through Dawn if the fishing is good....but always on the bank...always with the 'coons!lol

Mainly, I finally figured out that it was too hot in the summer to comfortably fish, and my time was better served during the day at the pool...along with that, it took me awhile to figure out that fish actually eat during times when I wasn't normally fishing, especially since it gets too hot for them in the day time and they just like to lay around and be lazy too! An added bonus of Night Fishing is that you don't have to deal with "The Finest", since they are not out at night because they are sleeping!

We will be having a Breakfast again on Saturday, February 14th, at Cracker Barrel, at 8am...Jeff (JAB/SOCDAD) and I will be there for sure...We know it is Valentines day, but Jeff said he has been married for 37 years and it is just another day to his wife...and I celebrate Valentine's Day as Independence Day!
Anyone who can make it, without having to sleep on the couch later that night is welcome!lol
