Default Pick Your Own Red Wigglers

Red wigglers are known for being an excellent bluegill bait. Bait stores are sometimes not open when you want to go fishing, and the price they charge for red wigglers is way too high. The solution is to just raise your own. Here is how I do it.

Feeding worms is the fun part of it. Just use yellow corn meal sprinkled on top of the bedding. Cover with damp newspaper. Add food by lifting up the bedding, depositing the scraps, and always covering it with the damp bedding.

Ship, do you put hardware cloth (to keep the birds out) over the Coffee grounds for the solider fly larvae?

Yep, the good ol compost pile. We have one in the backyard next to the garden and thats where we get our worms when we go fishing. When I was a child, many many moons ago, my Grandfather had a "worm bed" and 2 ponds on the farm. When I got ready to go fishing I'd go out to the worm bed and dig some red wigglers and catch a mess of bream, yep there were some mighty good memories from that part of my life.

Shredded newspaper and burlap kept damp. The lid on the cooler has air vents. Fine wire screening is calked under the lid.

Why the night lite? They scared of the dark? Seriously, what does the night light do?

Especially the sports section. Sometimes they read the funnies too. Actually the night light helps keep them inside the container. They look up and think it is daylight and go back underground to the electric slide dance
    party.
