Good post there young man
Red wigglers are known for being an excellent bluegill bait. Bait stores are sometimes not open when you want to go fishing, and the price they charge for red wigglers is way too high. The solution is to just raise your own. Here is how I do it.
Feeding worms is the fun part of it. Just use yellow corn meal sprinkled on top of the bedding. Cover with damp newspaper. Add food by lifting up the bedding, depositing the scraps, and always covering it with the damp bedding.

Yep, the good ol compost pile. We have one in the backyard next to the garden and thats where we get our worms when we go fishing. When I was a child, many many moons ago, my Grandfather had a "worm bed" and 2 ponds on the farm. When I got ready to go fishing I'd go out to the worm bed and dig some red wigglers and catch a mess of bream, yep there were some mighty good memories from that part of my life.
The Maggots looks alot of like Wax Worms, So are they maggots or wax worm or the same thing
Thanks for the post / info , been thinking of raising my own , you make it seem simple
Here is what I raise my red worms in. I drilled some drain holes in the bottom and added 4 inches of gravel...then I mixed peat moss and potting soil together and filled it about two thirds of the way up. I feed them cheap dry dog food and water them down once a week.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
