trolling for crappie

I have heard a lot of people chat about trolling for crappie. What kind of techniques and baits are you guys using? I am from michigan so I have used a lot of 7 line sets with multiple planer boards. I was just curous how effective it has been for crappie.

I've read some articles about trolling. It seems the best time to troll is during summertime when a thermo line develops in lakes. Fish will test to migrate to that point where temperatures are comfortable and the water is oxygenated. What I’ve read it so watch your fish finder. When fish are hanging at a certain depth, that’s the thermo line. Not sure if that’s true or not.
