Default my update on my fly rod

well guys i have jumped in with both feet sorta i am haveing me a custom rod made. its going to be a 8 1/2 ultr light 2 piece were i can switch it out to either a spinning reel or a fly reel wtih a tenns handle. now what do you guys think about the autos reels? g3 has told me about the one he uses. so which one would be a good light reel for the new rod.

Why automatic? They're heavy and "dated", IMO. None of the local fly shops sell them.

Why not just get a single action reel? You can get a Pflueger Medalist (a classic reel, BTW) for around $20. Bass Pro and Cabelas also have decent reels in that price range.

i would stay away from the auto reel myself just added weight and asking for headaches with one just my opinion. I have used one and it didnt stay on the rod long before i switched back.

Let me amend that. I think Bass Pro's fly shop might carry one model.

I don't think there's much demand for them from actual "fly" fishermen. Mostly, guys load them with mono and use them for vertical jigging for crappie. I'm pretty sure that's the main reason Grizzly Jig stocks them.
