try it. some squash last till spring if kept dry and cool. The Indians would take roots and squash and pack moss around em and bury them till later. The secret is to not have any touch one another. Keep us posted how long they last.
I had a guy tell me today that his uncle used to varnish watermelons and they would stay good a long time. He would eat them at Christmas. Any of ya'll heard that before. I might try it. I got some of the best melons I've ever ate and they would be good at Thanksgiving or Christmas. If it will work.
Ya ain't holdin' your mouth right.

try coating them with parrafin wax, that helps with hard skinned squashes

Everytime we spiked one, we didn't last that long. Spikin' a melon always meant it was going to be a bad night and an even worse morning. Everclear is for the devil.
