I use the Mr crappie True turn hooks
What is the most used aberdeen hook when t comes to minnows and crappie. Guess what I am asking is whet is the best hook to use.
I use the Mr crappie True turn hooks
I like a #4 gold extra fine wire hook for minnows.
For minnow fishing I like a gold eagle claw 202ELA ("A" means its in a bag, it will end in "R" if in a box). I usually use a #2
The "EL" stands for extra light, I like this style because they will straighten in brush, and I feel the minnow lives a little longer on a fine wire hook as opposed to a heavy wire that makes a bigger wound to the minniw.
Eagle claw makes a regular 202 style that looks the same but the wire is thicker and stronger. Always look for the "EL" if you want the light wire type.

I use a #2 mostly, sometimes a #4. Sometimes gold most of the time bronze.

I use a #2. Up until this year I have used the gold or bronze finish. I picked up some mustad red aberdeen hooks to use. I also saw where they had chartreuse hooks too but they looked like a dirty gold hook to me so I passed on them. I haven't really fished minners much yet this year so I couldn't tell you if they help or harm yet.
I've always used a 2/0 hook under my floater. I think it works better on big crappie, and it is amazing how small a crappie you can catch on it.
