Default looking for a new sonar unit

i am currently looking at the Lowrance x510c ($369.94 at BPS) and the lowrance HDS 5x($549.99 at BPS) and HDS 5x chart plotter ($749.99 BPS)<---that one might be pushing it for my budget.

anyone have any comments, suggestions or bad ideas?

    thanks

i currently have an Eagle Cuda 128 which came with the boat.

    Default Keep The Cuda

I Have Come To The Point In My Life That I Am Tired Of Upgrading All The Time, In Fact I Am About To Mount A New Flasher Up Front On The Trolling Motor And Moving My Cuda Back To The Steering Counsel, Mostly For Water Depth When Running.... I Remember The Old Flasher, With A 20 Degree Cone, When I Got A Red Line At Say 10' In 15' Water, The Fish Was Inside About A 40" Dia Circle And I Could Catch Them.. The Flasher Signal Is Now, Not Some Scrolling New Fangled Screen That I Have A Heck Of A Time Figuring Out..... Flasher I Liked And Am Going Back To It.... I Hear Boats Around Me All The Time, Saying I'm Marking Fish Here, But They Can't Catch'em.... No More High Dollar Fish Finders For Me, Your Money Have At It...... I Am Sure You Will Get Plenty Of Suggestions..

I will let you know this wekend, just purchased a new HDS 5 and HDS 7. Had a 96X and a 527c and they were both great units but I figure I will be current for about 6 months anyway. Get the largest screen you can afford.

I got a X510C first part of Feb. at Cabela's for $329. I now have it tweeked in and can see an 1/8th oz. jig dance around on the screen. I feel it is the best unit you can buy for under $400.
