crappie spawn on weiss

Do those black crappie in weiss spawn near the bank or mostly out in open water? last year we found some up in 1 to 2ft of water around the end of march but they seemed to be all white crappie.Thanks for any insight or advice.

YES they do. Water color, light penatration, length of days, moon, water temp, and current weather all effect the prime spawning time; as I have read.
Most crappie spawn in 1 to 5 feet of water, usually on the banks, in or near structure of some type.

Thanks Pops.we will be down through march 16-23rd.hope to be catching them trolling then.First week or two of april we hope to come back and catch some up close to the bank.does that sound about right? Thanks again for your help and info.
