    Exclamation Not once...but twice

I fell my butt into a thorn bush yesterday. Tony and I decided to fish Lake Purdy for some crappies. I picked him up about 4:30 in the morning and we headed out and were fishing the Grants Mill bridge area by 5:00 a.m.

The Lake was beautiful and the waters were calm. I just knew we were going to have multiple hookups because I was fishing Danger! Danger! at the Right time....at the Right time and I knew it would do the Right thing.

There were a few problems down here in Alabama though. First of all it was 22 degrees out and colder on the Lake. We kept freezing our butts off. The slip bobber stop knots kept getting huge hunks of ice on them and kept screwing up the line guides. We were on a 65 degree icy slop going down to the water and the rocks and the ground were heavy covered with heavy frost and extremely slippery. Putting your hand in the minnow bucket (I forgot the dip net) was like sticking your wet hand in your freezer at home for 10 minutes at a time. Did I tell you that we were cold? Anyway, we were out fishing.

On the slope where I was there is this huge thorn bush. The path between the bush and the water is about a foot and a half. Right next to the thorn bush, on this slope where I was fishing is this nice sized rock. Well after about twenty minutes I could not feel my ankles so I took a step back. My foot hit the rock and I fell Butt first into the thorn bush. Tony helped me up...or was pushing me deeper into the bush..........I don't know but he was laughing his arse off! I got up and started to pick thorns out of my butt. While I was doing that about 15 minutes later....you guessed it. My big old but fell again, back into the thorn bush!

I was picking thorns out for two hours. Tony was about to have a heart attack from laughing so much. The fish had lockjaw and we finally came home at 1:30. What a day

LMAO!!!! Glad to hear that I'm not the only one getting skunked lately. Of course I've been doing some exploring of new waters and not really expecting to do real well, although I thought I'd catch a few. It was not to be yesterday. Thanks for the beautiful pictures and story.

Somehow it makes me happy when I hear you southern boys whining about the cold and sitting in thorn bushes. I wish he'd snapped a shot of you sitting in the prickers before he pulled you out.
Good things come to those who bait.

Enjoyed the story and pictures Ship. It would have been a more complete posting if only Tony could have taken a couple of pictures, for posting, before helping you up. :D

Glad you weren't hurt physically but would imagine your pride might have been bruised a bit. Anyhow another one for your memory banks while fishing.

    Thanks for sharing.

He would have posted the pictures. It was not a pretty site. Tony could not stop laughing for two hours and threatened to post the photos on the forums if he could have gotten his camera out in time.
