Politics, politics, politics. A sorry way to get support for ending the war. Not against that but a disrespectful way to do it. I wish a requirement for president was being in the military.
Obama is reviewing the ban on news media taking
pictures of flag drapped coffins.
OMG, the left winggers are going to have a field
day with this. There will not be much respect of the fallen that served their country.
Just hope there is enough pressure to stop the lifting of the ban.

I'm not a vet so help me understand why we would keep our fallen hidden away from the public. I feel they should be celebrated for their valor. I understand that folks would try and use these pics for political gain but the message wouldn't change much I dont think. Heroes should be paraded to the grave in my opinion. There's got to be a reason no one wants the public to see these coffins but I dont understand. If I were a grieving family member I would be honored not against it.

What tweeks me the wrong way is how protesters of our fallen are allowed to be within 1000 yards of a funeral.

Yeah, that's me - we ought to be reminded plenty, but sure wouldn't
want to see that in ANYBODY'S political add, even (especially?) one of
those sneaky ones, whatever they're called, some kinda number type add -
help me out with that???

First, I am a retired Navy CWO4. 26 years. Here is my opinion for what it is worth.
I too think they should be honored for the sacrifice they made for this country and everyone in it.
Since you say you understand that political gain is the aim of those pressing for this, why would you want to let them do so?I understand that folks would try and use these pics for political gain... There's got to be a reason no one wants the public to see these coffins but I dont understand. If I were a grieving family member I would be honored not against it.
The people so anxious now to take advantage of these fallen servicemembers are NOT those that want to do them honor. The people that appreciate the gift the fallen have given them do so already.
Those so anxious to gain access to flag-draped casket images are those that want to exploit the imagery to gain their political ends. The individuals in those coffins mean nothing to those people. They just want to use the image itself as a front for their message.
I agree. But talking heads on Television are not interested in any heroism involved. There have been MANY examples of heroism by our service members during these wars.Heroes should be paraded to the grave in my opinion.
How many have you seen on the nightly news? How many on the front page of the NY Times?
Count them up my friend and you will have your answer.

i have the flag that covered my younger brothers coffin when he was killed in viet nam. when my time comes, this same flag will be used at my service and i dont care who sees it. the only statement i have regarding the presence of the flag is i earned the right for it to drape my remains and no other. being a veteran myself, i qualify for this right. and id almost be willing to bet that those boys with the flags draping their coffins would most certainly wish their situation would be different, but being americans, would be extremely proud to have earned the right to a flag drapped casket instead of a bunch of worthless flowers.
