    Default Table Rock 2/7 & 2/8

Caught 30 this weekend. Lot's O' boats fishin' Flat Creek / James River Junction.
Fishing Over 20 – 28 ft. Most caught close to the bottom.
1/8oz Chartreuse aspirin head tandom rig with Blue/White Slab buster Jig tipped with platinum nibble.
    Only two under 10”.
    Biggest a touch over 15” @ 1lb. 5oz.
No pictures as my rechargeable battery won’t recharge and a new one costs more than the camera is worth.
Turned all of them back over 12" which was the majority.
There should be some good ones this year from that 2002 spawn if they haven’t died of old age.

    Nice!
Glad to hear that. I've NEVER done any good crappie fishing down at TR, but that COULD be because I usually only make it down there mid-summer when its 100 degrees out AND I can't resist the temptation to pick up the bass rods every time I stop.

What's the water temp down there?
Seeing as I'm out of work right now, this might be the time for me to try my hand at a little non-summer crappie fishin' down there.
Teach your kids to hunt and fish and you won't have to hunt for your kids !!

Water Temp is 39 - 41 degrees. Ice finally melted off the backs of the coves this weekend.
In the summer when it's 100 degrees, it's best to troll small shad raps or bandit crankbaits 15 to 20ft over open water to try and find numbers of crappie.

Thanks Kit for the report, love that area for winter / very early spring. Turning loose those quality spawning females is something I'm a fan of and wish more people would consider. Folks should pay attention to smart fellers like yourself.

Just remember in the spring it's more important to turn back the males as they are the ones that protect the nest of eggs until they hatch and move on.
