Our crappie are getting fatter and fatter. Today our biggest 5 averaged over two pounds.

These two were 2-pounds, 4-ounces and 2-pounds even:

None of them were over 15.5-inches but they sure were thick and two of them were males.

Now I just need to find the next older year class, which should be in the 3-pound range.

Lake Greeson in Southwest Central Arkansas

Here's whole stringer:

We released the largemouth bass and saved about a dozen of the smallest crappie for brood stock for the Fisheries Biologists. We usually don't keep them under about 9.5 or 10-inches but they want any black crappie we catch over 8-inches to stock a nursery pond right before the spawn.

The guy on the left had to come back for more so he brought another friend and we found some more fatties yesterday:

I think he's "ruent" - he has two more trips planned with me.

The biggest was 2-pound, 4-ounces, and we had two that were 2-pound, 2-ounces, and one that was 2-pounds even. Our biggest 6 averaged over two pounds:

Dang Jerry those are some sweet fish. You are makin it harder and harder for me to keep my nose to the grindstone up here. If I run down there it'll mess up my month businesswise, but I'm gettin close to what the hecking it and blowin off the month. Your insidious!!
