Isnt it just spray cilicone?
Anyone else use this stuff?
I have been using this stuff for a while and it works pretty well for keeping line limp and castable when its this cold.
It will also keep hi-vis line from fading. I noticed that some of the yellow crappie line I've been using faded over time even when I had them stored. I used it on my line this past spring and the line still looked brand new when i took my crappie rods out the other day. (Sorry guys I fish a lot of green fish tournaments in the summer so I don't crappie fish all year) So far i've been impressed with KVD.

Usta fish Mossybacks all the time. One day when I returned home late, my wife yanked my BVDs out my buttox. This caused my head to fall to the ground, which she quickly commenced to kick around like a soccer ball. She finally placed my head back from where it fell.
Lesson learned. Well, I still have my head up my buttox, but we now crappie fish together. No Mossybacks......:p

No... according to the website, KVD is a blend of non-toxic polymers that actually bonds to the line. Silicon oil only temporarily coats the line... Spray silicon also offers no UV protection, which means hi-vis lines will still fade. I have used spray silicon before, its much messier than KVD. Here's where I got my info: Kevin VanDam's Line & Lure Conditioner - FAQ
It works really well on Flourocarbon. I use fc a lot bass fishing and it's much stiffer by nature than monofilament. I had some Vanish 17lb test that I thought about throwing away before I tried the line treatment on it. It was like wire and looked like a roll of unraveled baling wire when you cast. It was comparable to 50# line from the discount bin . I sprayed it down and used it almost all last summer after that... I would use flourocarbon crappie fishing because it's so much more sensitive than mono but I like using hi-viz line. I'm pretty sure you could use the lower diameters flouros on spinning gear if you used KVD. FC ain't worth a crap on smaller spinning gear by itself from my experience. I have a hard time going back to mono after using FC. It's like fishing with a rubber band, mono is so stretchy compared to FC.

Is Real Magic and KVDs line conditioner about the same as WD-40? There's no such thing as a "dumb Question". They all smell alike (to me).

Now that there's funny CP, I don't care who you are...
I'm gonna come up and fish with you this year!! If you'll let me anyway. I've been wanting to since I first started hanging around here. Gonna do it this year.
Reel Magic's like WD-40. KVD's a whole different animal. ie: no petroleum distillates in KVD... Solvents in the water ain't never good, even if they are just the carrier as is stated on the can of Reel Magic.

You don't sound very excited... I tell you what if we accidentally snag any green carp we will throw 'em up on the bank so you won't have to mess with 'em no more and I won't tell momma you caught 'em so she won't kick your head around again

Thanks, CP. I don't use either, but, a friend of mine who uses only Fluorocarbon line swears by WD 40 and Real Magic. I'll have a sit down with him and tell him about the KVD line conditioner. I think mono is slightly better for crappie fishing because of the stretch.
