    Default Talk about lucky.

I posted this on the IL site but thought I would post it on the hunting site.

I don't think a guy could get as lucky as I did on 12/03/08 the day before the second firearm season.
I was watching TV in my back room when I saw a nice 8 point buck walk through my back yard on the oposite side of my dog pen. The deer was walking towards a small creek the runs through my yard. After it crossed the creek it got into a little grassy area by a small patch of tree's. I grabbed my bow and boots and decided I would try to stalk this buck. I had blue jeans and a blue sweat shirt on and no hunting clothes. I had not even been hunting my bow was on a chair in the room from the other day after a hunt. I walked out my back door and got along the tree line and used the strong wind to mask any sound and scent. This deer stopped under a percimin tree and started eating percimins. I walked along a tree line until I got to about 20 yards of the deer. I had a wide open broadside shot. I settled my pin and hit the release. The arrow went through the lower part of it's chest. The deer jumped and stopped to offer me another shot but there was a log in my way so the arrow hit the log. The deer trotted off and crossed my road and went into my neighbors yard. I was able to stalk up on it again within 20 yards and finish the job.
I don't think I have ever been this lucky before.
I have not been able to crappie fish or bow hunt for the last couple weeks much and this is just icing on the cake. It made my day.
I figured I would share this with everyone kind cool I thought. The day before the second firearm season and I harvest a nice 8 point buck while I was not even hunting.

    Enjoy the pictures.

Geez, I'm jealous. I can't kill one that nice when I'm working at it. Congratulations.

That is the craziest thing I have ever hear. You sir are one lucky son of a gun and one heck of a stealthy hunter to be able to stalk a mature buck like that one. Way to go! Great story and great buck.
