    Default Homemade scents/crappie nibbles

Was wondering if anyone had a recipe for homemade fish scents or power bait / crappie nibbles. Would like to try. Maybe first start with grinding up maggots in the food processor? Just kidding. Wife would kill me.

John....I have already spent way more than 3 bucks and have many scents/nibbles. Just thought it would be kinda neat to make some myself.

I know a guy that tried hole kernel corn and soaked it in garlic oil. I was with him and he caught crappie with it. I'll stick to nibbles.

Catch a female with eggs , oopen her up take the roe. Use to dip jig in,(nothing better that the nauural to scent of a female) this is as good as it gets. However roe can be placed in refrig and use again. If you kill the female go on and fillet her and place meat in ice for your next meal.

Gracie....The extra steelhead eggs I have gave me the idea. Just kinda wondering if I should mix them with something to make them adhere better or be able to form into a paste.

I just posted this in the tips and tricks thread. Dirt cheap!!

    Cheaper alternative to nibbles...

Chop up a hotdog in to chunks a little bigger than nibbles. Microwave for a minute, stop and mix them around a couple of times as you nuke. Then put them in the fridge on a paper towel overnight. Next day you have a bunch of little hot dog jerky chunks that you can use whole or pinch in half, use as you would a crappie nibble. Works better, and extremely cheap. I have had great results with these!
