put rocks on the dam
I recently bought a pond and it doesnt seem to fill up as much as it should. It has large crawdad holes all around the pond and all over the dam. After a rain I can go to the back of the dam and see water coming out of a crawdad hole. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the crawdads and fix the holes?

Eat the crawdads.
But seriously, how big are the holes? You sure it's not muskrats?
Do gooder since April 26, 2009!
My dads friend had the same problem, but a .223 fixed that problem. Well if its muskrat the .223 will work(:

No its crawdads, but they are big. Holes probably 1 1/2 inchs across.

You might try using a 1" PVC pipe and some plastic bags "grocery store surplus" punch bags in the holes. Buy a bag of concrete redimix and just pour some in the holes. Place visqueen "spelling"? on dam and cover with dirt.
Lots of possibilities if you have the time.:D

Gravel over and in the wholes? Maybe concrete the dam ??
I dont know if theyre crawdads,

Got any cattle? If you do turn them out in the field that the pond is in. This summer it will get hot. The cattle will get in the water to cool off and "walk it in". That's how all the old farmers around here used to seal their levys. Let the cattle "walk it in".
I used to run heavy equipment and have dug many a pond. The only other way I know to fix a leaking levy is to dig it out & rebuild it with some good clay. NO GRAVEL! It will seep. And your problem is most likely muskrats.

Never heard of Crawfish making holes through a dam. They do burrow into the mud on the bottom. I'll ask my fish farmer friends.
