Ouch.that would ruin anyones good day
My son, his girlfriend and my daughters boyfriend took the boat about an hour away to do some fishing. They were doing good this morning then I get the phone call. Hmmm...... mom I need to go to the hospital. I have a hook stuck in my thumb and I can not get it out. He said it is deep and he can not bring it around to cut it off.

That would be a problem. Glad they sought medical attention for it.

May God be with you. Keep CALM and STAY ANCHORED with your faith.
Just got back from the hospital with him. All I can say is OUCH. It was right near the nail so they had to back it back out. Took awhile and a few shots but all done.
You as well as everyone else should learn how to take a hook out with mono. It's very useful and doesn't hurt. You should still keep first aid stuff with you, and make sure your shots are up to date.
Yep, the only thing painful about that procedure is thinking about it.
I have had to use it several times, on myself and friends. How to remove a hook from a human

We did try the usual but the way it was in next to the nail it just was not coming out. I did print of the info you guys have posted to stick in the tackle box in case it happens again they can follow the diagram. Thanks.

I've had 2 cut out, both were small and deep. Ouch is right.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Only had a hook in past the barb once with a 8 lb walleye still attached. It was so cold I never felt the hook go in. I was removing a hook and my buddy got a hit and I turned for a sec. The fish gave a jerk and I turned back and I was stuck right below my right thumbnail up to the middle of the bend. I got the fish off, and decided to take it out on my own because we were hitting the big ones and I wasn't leaving. It took me 20 minutes and all my strength to get it out. Man thumb flesh is tough. I stayed and fished and we smacked em. Healed up fine. Don't do this at home.
Good things come to those who bait.
